Pastel Demo Painting At Fairweather House & Garden

In spite of a downpour last night at Seaside, Oregon, there was a good crowd who turned out for Seaside's monthly Art Walk. Acclaimed nature photographer, Neal Maine, and I were featured artists at Fairweather House & Garden. Neal spoke of his latest photo adventure to the Arctic focusing on the plight of the polar bear. Below is the pastel painting I did as a live painting demonstration. I titled it Quiet Anticipation in reference to the theme of this month's exhibit of the same name.

"Nostalgic Path" - New Pastel Painting

Based on a photo I took at Lewis and Clark Park in the Columbia River Gorge area I painted this little beauty. I think it has a bit of a dream-like quality and I feel a bit wistful when looking at it. This will be available at Fairweather House & Garden in Seaside, Oregon on Saturday, February 7th where I will be one of the featured artists. Come watch me do a pastel painting at the gallery during the Seaside  First Saturday Art Walk from 5:00 to 7:00pm!

January 2015 Daily Paintings…or nearly

Okay, time to get started on the challenge of painting everyday, or nearly everyday.

The two paintings below were originally one long 6"x12"painting. I cut it in half then re-worked both sides to make two new 6"x6" paintings. Success!!
Canoe Path by Gretha Lindwood, 6"x6" pastel on sandpaper, based on a view of a lake near my home

Soft Whispers by Gretha Lindwood, 6"x6" pastel on sandpaper, based on a view of a lake near my home
